Drawstring Pants - Finishing it off with the Hems
This is the final step on how to finish the hems on the pant so they are even and sewn like a machinist would. Enjoy
Remember, start with your woven fabrics as this will make this design easier to pull off, as you become more confident with this you can move to knit fabrics. Remember to use a knit fabric, ballpoint, needle.
If you wish to buy the pattern, this one has both a women's Bootleg pattern in it and a unisex pant for guys, my husband is modelling for me at the beginning of the videos.
It's been a staple for us and Yogi's, guys who sail, surf or are the gardening type. Anyone really who likes comfortable pants with losing the style element and don't want to wear boardies all the time.
The pattern is $12 and you can download and share it with friends up to 8 times because people who sew together usually like each other ALOT and its a great way to hang out. xx

Thanks for watching, I love handmade anything as they have proven to last longer than mass made cheaper clothes. This channel is my part of helping save the planet and ourselves from overconsumption.
My day job keeps me hectic from October to March so I do light work here and on social media in those months but we do ramp sewing lives from April to September. 2020 is our first year of using this system as life got too hectic last year to make it an all year gig.
I will be building a sustainable playlist which you can check out if you follow my channel down the rabbit hole of UA-cam.
Thanks for being here, I know we are going to love each other if you feel the same way about sustainability. #letschangetheworld #andourselves
xx love and respect Irene

I have just received this machine. I have been playing around with it. I have noticed that when I am sewing decorative stitches or the alphabet and I’m not using my foot control I am not able to adjust the speed of the sewing. Is this right? The speed control slider works fine on the utility stitches without the foot pedal so I don’t think there’s a malfunction with it. I have looked in the manual and I can’t find anything mentioning it in there. Tia

Hi Maria, it depends if you bought it on a campaign as I managed to get all those feet as an extra on my sewing machine as it only came with 4. Each store is different but the base is the 1, 2, 7 and I am not confident about the 4th but it was definitely 4.

No. Only a book, if you're asking if I got a CD with the BrotherA150. That's why I created the video, I am busy and don't have time to read their book so we filmed this set up tute as Brother doesn't have this kind of content.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I hv difficulties as I hv switched on from a different machine to this machine. Like I had thru change the foots with screwdriver now just lower the pressure foot and it's done. Now several types of changes are there so it takes time ro settle with this machine and as you said we are so busy that we hv no time to read the book. The other day the the shuttle came out I did not know what to do I had to do. open the utube to each. But I feel they should give free demonstrations for people who are using this machine for the first time.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this lovely introduction video to the A150 sewing machine. It's highly appreciated and a lot better to understand than the manual 😃 Now I only need to figure out why my stitches don't look clean and the tension is hardly right. Maybe our old sewing machines are not that picky if it comes to the threads I'm using.. Any idea?

    • @WeMadeItSewingSustainably
      @WeMadeItSewingSustainably 3 роки тому

You're welcome. You have to make sure the top tension is set right, that's the key piece of the puzzle on the stitch length. Also keep your bobbin clean, it makes a huge difference.

That bobbin winding doodad (#3) is technically called a Bobbin winding thread guide and pretensioning disc. Thats too many words for such a small thing lol! I call it a tensioning disc or tension disc or bobbin tension disc, depending on how lazy i’m feeling 👍🏼 And.. that button in the bottom right of the keypad, two up, two in. The one with the circular arrow. It locks all the keys and buttons. I suspect so you don’t accidentally sew over your finger while you’re changing a needle or similar. You’re supposed to press it before you change your needle or your bobbin, then press it again to unlock it all. One of those safety features that no one would be bothered with, like me for example 🤪

    • @WeMadeItSewingSustainably

Yes it does, there is a slide button at the back of the machine that allows you to set the feed dogs down. they don't pop back up when you slide the button back to the original position but it does seem to click back into place - being in the up position, once you start sewing.

I have been looking for a tutorial for a men’s pant/trousers that are simple to sew, comfy to wear but still looks “professional” enough to go to work in. I work in a office desk job where t-shirts and jeans are ok. This video could be a good starting point for me using the right materials.

Thank you Mitchell, Happy New Year to you too. Go for a nice linen fabric and this design will have you set. My husband and son wear these a lot, I have been making them for nearly 16 years and they still love them. I have just moved my family to FNQ in QLD, so will resume the uploads next week so you will have the complete lessons up here soon. Just putting the last pieces together in my office.
